02/26/2009 - ARS Technologies Inc. Announces National Drilling Division

ARS is proud to announce the opening of east and west coast drilling divisions centered around the most advanced, largest and most powerful combination direct push/auger rigs ever, the Geoprobe 8040 series rig. The 8040 track mounted rig offers versatility, site accessibility and power in a single rig unlike any other rig available. The 8040 Rig handles up to 4.5 inch Direct Push Tooling and Augers up to 8.25 inch, for comprehensive soil and water sampling as well as a full range of well installation and injection services.

ARS’ drilling group has 8040 rigs and trained crews on both the east and west coasts of the US. These locations offer extremely cost effective and versatile environmental drilling and well installation services. The range of services we offer includes soil and ground water sampling, monitoring well installation, fracturing and injection point installation and services, well abandonment, piezometer and vapor probe installation.

ARS was the first company in the country to offer the Geoprobe 8040 series rig on the west coast where it has performed flawlessly for more than nine months. Using the rig’s large 4.5-inch casing and ARS Fracturing technology, a ZVI reaction barrier was installed at a Silicon Valley site. The ARS 8040 rig advanced 4.5” casing to a depth of 70 feet in a tight geologic formation in less than an hour, installing 65 injection points over a 2 month period.

The 8040DT is a revolutionary step beyond the previous generations of direct-push rigs. Not only does it offer significantly more powerful hammering power to drive 4.5-inch casing for installation of 2-inch monitoring wells without generating IDW, it is also equipped with a 6,500-ft lbf torque drive head to spin up to 6.5” diameter augers for the installation of 4-inch wells. ARS has integrated an air hammer to the 8040DT for drilling through weathered rock, hard pan and cemented geologic materials.

With an innovative services model created by ARS a full range of site services from well installation to injection and fracturing services and well abandonment can be accomplished by our skilled crews.

One client stated “ this rig can offer all of the capabilities of a sonic rig at half the cost”.

ARS crew performs well installation and injection services at an indoor site.

ARS has highly trained and experienced licensed drilling crews on staff based out of our New Jersey and Northern California offices. These crews have an excellent safety record and have a broad range of experience not only in drilling services but also in Fracturing and Injection services. Our crews are also experienced in project management, and are very efficient when working on sites.

02/26/2009 - ARS is pleased to announce the opening of our West Region office in Berkeley California

Having a west coast location allows ARS to provide more cost effective Pneumatic Fracturing, advanced injection and drilling services to our clients in the western half of North America. The opening of this office is a culmination of having completed numerous projects and garnered extensive experience and contacts in this part of the country. 02/20/2009 - ARS Technologies, Inc. Names Robert Kelley, Ph.D., as V.P. for Technology Development

ARS Technologies, Inc. (ARS), a leading developer of advanced injection and environmental remediation technologies, has named Robert Kelley, Ph.D., to the position of Vice President for Technology Development. Dr. Kelley is a scientist with extensive experience bringing innovative technologies from laboratory to the market.

ARS President John Liskowitz said, “Dr. Kelley adds a strong level of hands on experience in bringing several of our new and exciting proprietary products and technologies from the developmental phase to commercial implementation.”

After earning his B.S. in Biology at Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. in Microbiology at Michigan State University, Dr. Kelley spent ten years with the Institute of Gas Technology (IGT) as manager of biotransformation research in the areas of biotechnology and environmental research. He was the lead scientist at IGT in the discovery and development of combined chemical and biological remediation technologies for treatment of PAHs and PCBs, and holds patents on these processes.

He later spent several years as a remediation specialist and senior environmental consultant for leading environmental consulting firms, focusing on in-situ chemical oxidation, bioremediation, and environmental biotechnology. As a consultant, he performed and supervised phase II environmental assessments and designed remediation solutions for contaminated properties. Dr. Kelley was the Team Leader for the Hazardous Remediation Group at CARUS Chemical Co, and Product Manager at REGENESIS, Inc. Dr. Kelley is now the Vice President of Technology Development for ARS. ARS and its HEPURE Products Division are full-service turnkey suppliers of in-situ remediation technologies and products including Pneumatic Fracturing, Ferox (ZVI ) injection, Liquid Atomized Injection of Chemical Oxidants and Biological Substrates.

A widely published expert in his field, Dr. Kelley has authored more than 60 technical reports and papers and 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and given over 400 technical presentations to audiences world-wide.

08/21/2008 - Mill Valley, California (August 21, 2008) ARS Technologies, Inc. (ARS), the world’s largest provider of fracturing and environmental injection services, has announced the acquisition of Geoprobe Systems’ newest direct push drill rig, the 8040 DT. The 8040 DT, Geoprobe’s newest and most powerful direct push platform will be used to support ARS’ advanced injection techniques for insitu remediation such as pneumatic fracturing and atomized amendment injection, as well as offered to clients for independent drilling projects.

The Geoprobe 8040DT is a high capacity direct push machine with a durable undercarriage, hollow stem auger capability, and a tracked wide base platform. It is currently deployed at a site in Sunnyvale, California where it is being used to advance boreholes for ARS’ Ferox process. The Ferox process, a patented technology consisting of pneumatic fracturing and the atomized injection of zero valent iron (ZVI), has been demonstrated to be highly effective at reducing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s).

Steve Chen, ARS Project Manager for the Sunnyvale project, said,”We are very pleased with the performance of the Geoprobe 8040DT. It is advancing the large diameter tooling we require for our injection operations to depths of sixty feet below ground with no trouble at all. This rig is a great alternative to the sonic drilling method we have used in the past. It is a significantly smaller platform and much more maneuverable so it will be able to address areas a sonic rig cannot reach.”

John Liskowitz, ARS President, said,” The 8040 DT has been a great acquisition. It allows us to offer a more cost-effective service with greater accessibility to our clients along with a smaller carbon footprint. In addition to supporting our pneumatic fracturing and injection projects, the 8040DT will be available to our clients for sampling, well installation, and injection projects. This is the only rig of its type on the west coast, and fits in with our best practices strategy of providing the best technology and service to our clients at a reasonable price.” ARS Technologies is an environmental field service company founded in 1991, which provides soil fracturing and innovative injection methods for in-situ treatment of soil and ground water contamination. Using proprietary technologies such as Pneumatic Fracturing, Liquid Atomized injection and Feroxsm, the company has successfully applied innovative approaches to more than 250 sites throughout the world.  Through application of its patented Feroxsm process, the company pioneered the use of Zero-Valent Iron for source zone treatment.
