Shallow Atomized Injection (SAI)

In response to requests from our clients who recognize the value of our advanced Pneumatic Fracturing and Liquid Atomized Injection services, but desire a simplified approach for shallower sites, ARS is pleased to introduce SAI. Several recent advancements by our engineering group have enabled ARS to "miniaturize" our injection configuration for this purpose. SAI will offer the most cost-effective insitu material emplacement approach employing state-of-the-art patented technologies, resulting in better distribution for more effective treatment.

Shallow Atomized InjectionHighlights of the Service:

  • Simplified cost and daily unit rate pricing structure;
  • All work performed by the same highly trained engineers and field technicians that conduct our globally recognized pneumatic fracturing and injection technologies;
  • Patented and proprietary injection service results in fewer injection points and better emplacement of  treatment media; and
  • Portable compressed-gas-based system offers ability to inject both low and high viscosity fluids at rates as high as 25 gpm and under pressures up to 150 psig.

SAI is an advanced reactive materials injection approach that addresses sites where contamination is found in relatively shallow and less complex formations that do not require our deep injection operations that involve highly specialized equipment and extensive labor and subcontractor support. While still based on ARS’ pneumatic-injection technique and built around our proprietary injection tooling, SAI is designed to utilize readily available and cost-efficient support equipment to streamline the field process.

The goal of SAI is to ensure the advantages of ARS’ Liquid Atomization Injection (LAI) process are realized to achieve enhanced distribution of chemical oxidants, bio-substrates, emulsions and other reactive materials in liquid or slurry form while minimizing the complexity of the operation to reduce cost.  ARS’ field crew is capable of advancing the proprietary injection nozzle to depths as great as 40 feet and conducting the injection at flow rates up to 25 gpm or more.

In the industry there is a gap in terms of field injection approaches used in our industry today. For the deep and complex treatment zones, ARS has provided highly specialized injection processes that require large mixing/injection plants and use of bulk nitrogen tube trailers in conjunction with advanced drilling techniques. On the other end of the spectrum, there are low-cost conventional hydraulic pumping injection services or so called “punch-and-squirt” that may not result in desirable distribution of the injectate in certain formations. SAI fills the need for a more aggressive delivery approach to achieve better distribution in shallow treatment zones at a much reduced price compared to our deep injection process.
